Discipling 12
Lesson 2
Nature of the Word
Concept:
We must all recognize that the Bible is God speaking to us.
Hebrews 1:1-2 says that God has spoken to us through His Son.
II Timothy 3:16 states that the written Word was “God breathed”.
Jesus declares that His words are spirit and life. Psalms 89:34-35
tells us that God does not change His mind after He has spoken
His Word. We must take God at His Word, because His Word is God.
(John 1:1) The Word of God is the will of God for our lives.
The Word shows us the heart of God for our lives. Every promise
is “yes and amen” to all of us who believe. Let’s allow the Lord
by His Spirit to show us that His Word is able to change any
situation into something that will bring the Lord glory and the
kingdom of darkness a total defeat.

Summary:
We know that God is not a man that He should lie, so we can
take Him at His Word. When we begin to act like the Word is
true in our life, the Word will manifest. God always confirms
His Word with corresponding signs. The Lord desires to display
His Word (Isaiah 8:18) in our good times and bad times. We do
not need to beg God to do His Word; He has given us His Word on
His Word. When Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 8:3 in the wilderness,
He released the power of God against the devil. Every time we speak
the Word in faith, we release the power of God into our situation
and the mountain will be removed (Mark 11:23). What ever He says
about the situation, let’s say the same thing.
Action:
The Word of God spoken out of our mouth is a powerful weapon
against the enemy. Let’s pick two scriptures out of the list
above and memorize them. Speak them out everyday. At our next
meeting we will quote them to each other. Also be ready to explain
the phrase “that verse just became alive to me” next time.
Remember that every promise in His Word is the Lord speaking to
you about your life.
