Discipling 12
Lesson 4
The Father's Heart
Concept:
As we begin to talk about the Father there could
be mixed feelings that begin to swirl around on
the inside of us. Our understanding of the Father
could be based on the Bible, our own earthly father,
false teaching, or a world formed concept framed
by fear. We need the Holy Spirit to give us a Word
of God revelation of who our Heavenly Father really
is. Peter received a revelation in Matthew 16:16 and
Jesus was quick to point out that it wasn’t flesh and
blood that brought the understanding but the Father.
We need the veils on our eyes removed in the same way
they vanished from Peter. In Jeremiah 9:23-24, we are
encouraged not to boast in anything we might posses,
but to boast about the fact that we know the Father.
Can we boast that we know Him?
Scripture Application:
Look for adjectives and adverbs that amplify
the heart of God toward us.

Summary:
One of the greatest assets to our receiving
the promises of God’s Word is to understand
the great love that the Father has for us.
I John 4:8 tell us that God is love. In the
original language the “is” is not there. God
does not equal love His very nature explodes
with love. You cannot separate God and love;
there is no difference. Once we know of His
great love, we will not doubt His provision
or run from His correction. Everything that
the Lord does is for my good. If I being an
earthly father, with still some evil in me,
know how to give good gifts, how much more does
the Heavenly Father give good gifts to His
children. We are also called friends and not
servants. We are co-heirs with Jesus. The
Father loves us just as much as He loves Jesus.
Wow! What a great love that would give His only
begotten Son for a world that rejected Him. While
I was still a sinner, the Lord died for me. Allow
that great love to penetrate every part of your
being and you will not doubt that the Father wants
to take care of you and see your destiny accomplished.
Action:
Take an area of unbelief and place the love of
God on that unbelief. A good example would be:
you have prayed for a family member to get saved
and it has not manifested yet. Begin to confess
that because of God’s great love toward you that
all of His promises to you are yes and amen. Because
He loves you with such a great love, He will not
withhold any good thing from you. See yourself coming
into the throne room of a Loving Father who is excited
about you coming in and fellowshipping and making
your request known with thanksgiving.
