Lesson 2: Deliverance
Name ________________________________
As you start your walk with the Lord, you will notice that He will expose areas in
your life that need changing. The Lord never condemns us but He will convict and
show us brokenness in order that He—by His Spirit—can change us to look more like
Him. I have never changed myself, but I have allowed the Lord to change me. We need
to learn to cooperate with the Holy Spirit as He works on our will to be willing to
do of His good pleasure. The devil gets footholds in our lives through many
different ways. I could be ignorant and mess around in witchcraft, palm reading,
horoscopes or many other demonic things before I received Christ. Those things need
to be broken by the power of God. There might have been a trauma in my life like a
divorce, a death of someone I loved, an accident, or a physical disease that has
left a scar on my personality. The Lord desires to heal whatever it is. Maybe
someone I loved abused me or an authority figure in my life spoke some cutting
words to me. These abuses could still be a stronghold of the enemy. Our God is able
to heal and set us free, and that is the purpose of this lesson. Be sure to get
prayer from your coach after you have studied the lessons.
Deliverance
1. Repentance is always a key. When I sin, I must run to the Lord and ask Him
to forgive my sin. Sin is missing the mark and that is in action or thought.
I John 1:9, I John 2:1, I John 3:11,12 and I John 3:6 (can’t continue)
2. Repentance implies a change of direction and change of action and a change
of thinking. Luke 15:11-32, II Kings 22:19, Jonah 3:6-9, and Mark 14:72
3. The enemy can get a place of bondage in my soul, body, and circumstances. There
is a need to use the name of Jesus to loose the devil’s hold. John 10:10,
I Thessalonians 5:23, I Corinthians 6:16, II Corinthians 4:4, Ephesians 4:20-28,
Luke 13:10-17, Luke 4: 38-44, Exodus 3:21,22, Malachi 3:11, Acts 10:38,
Matthew 18:18, and Matthew 11:28-30
4. Steps to get free:
a. Desire to live in freedom: Matthew 5:6
b. Identify the root: Psalms 139:23,24
c. Confess and repent: Luke 13:3
d. Believe the bondage is broken: Hebrews 11:6
e. Get into Word: John 17:17, John 6:63, John 8:32
f. Prayer: Luke 18:1
1. Can you think of an example of when you repented and what you did?
