Lesson 3: The Word
Name ________________________________
One of the things that is most important in our growth in the Lord is that we
learn to love the Word of God. Scripture says I must love the Word more than
food. We are all working on that, but we do want to press to get to that level.
The Word of God is life and health to me. The Word is a living thing and is
likened to a sword that will drive the enemy off of me. Jesus says that His
words are spirit and they are life. They will feed your spirit and cause it to
grow. The book of Peter says that we should crave the Word like babies desire
milk. As you think about the Word, it will help change your thinking patterns
and cause you to begin to know what the Lord is asking of your life. The Lord
also states in Isaiah that the Word is so powerful that it always accomplishes
His purposes down here on earth and will not come back to Him after He speaks
it until His will is done. We are not just studying an old book—it is alive
and full of power. Begin to read, think on, and speak out of your mouth the
Word of God, and your life will be changed forever.
The Power Of The Word:
1. God’s word is His will for our lives. We would not know what was right
unless the Lord spoke it in His word. So when you read the Bible it is God
speaking to you. II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:21, Psalms 119:11,
John 20:31, John 17:17, I Kings 8:56, Psalms 11:7
2. The word of God is powerful to change things when you speak it out and believe
it is true. Romans 1:16, Romans 10:8, Jeremiah 23:29, John 20:31, Hebrews 4:12,
Jeremiah 15:16, Mark 11:23, Romans 15:4
3. The word of God will transform our lives until we act like Christ.
Deuteronomy 28:1,2, Matthew 7:26,27, John 8:31, 32, Jeremiah 31:33, 34, Isaiah 40:8,
Psalms 119:9, John 15:3, I Peter 1:22, I Peter 2:2, Jeremiah 15:16, Colossians 3:16
