New Convert/Pre-Encounter Lessons
Lesson 4: Prayer
Name ________________________________
One of the dynamics of developing friendships is that it opens up new communication
avenues. We are able to talk to people who are our friends. You are now a friend of
God and He wants to communicate with you. Jeremiah 33:3 records that the Lord says
to call on Him and He will answer us. That is an open invitation for communication
to begin. What do I talk to the Lord about is always a good question, and the
answer is anything that you desire.
Here are some scriptures to read and then confess out loud to God. Remember, pray
what you are reading in the Bible and also speak out to the Lord the things in
your heart. Remember, the Lord loves you.
* I John 1:9 Ask for forgiveness of mistakes
* Ephesians 1:17,18 Ask for my eyes to be open so I can see correctly
* James 1:5 Ask for God’s wisdom
* I Timothy 2:5 Ask for loved ones to understand the love of God
* Philippians 4:19 My provision financially
* I Peter 2:24 Healing in my body
* II Corinthians 1:3,4 Comfort in trouble
* John 14:27 Peace of mind
* Matthew 6:33 Life’s need
* I Timothy 2:1,2 Government
* John 14:13-16 Needs given to the Father in Jesus’ Name
* Ephesians 6:12-19 Say no to the devil using the weapons of God
* I Peter 5:7 Give your worries to God
* James 5:14-18 Healing
* Matthew 7:7-11 Ask for all your needs
Do not stop your prayers by:
* Willfully continuing to sin (I John 3:7,8)
* Not being forgiving (Matthew 6:14,15)
* Being consumed by the world (Matthew 6:33)
* Not treating mate correctly (I Peter 3:7)
Steps that will help your prayer life:
* Think on the Word and the promises of God (Philippians 4:8)
* Talking to God as much as possible (I Thessalonians 5:17)
* Be a person who gives thanks (Philippians 4:4)
* Get in a small group (Acts 2:42)
* Worship with others at church (Hebrews 10:25)
Remember the Lord is waiting for you to ask and start the
conversation (Revelations 3:20)
