Lesson 5: Water Baptism
Name ________________________________
In Matthew 28:19 we are asked by the Lord to be water baptized in the name of the
Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. When the people at the house of a man named
Cornelius (in Acts 10) received Christ, they were baptized in water right away.
When Paul shared Christ with a jailer and he and his family wanted to receive
Christ in their hearts, Paul immediately baptized them. We see through these
examples that the Lord desires for us to be baptized in water.
The word baptized in scripture means to be completely immersed. A better
translation would be dipped completely. You need to be dipped in water and
be obedient to what the Lord asks.
Scripture:
Matthew 28:19
Mark 16:16
Acts 10:48
Acts 19:5
Acts 9:18
Matthew 3:13-16
Acts 2:38
Acts 22:16
Acts 8:12
Acts 8:38
Acts 16:15
Acts 16:33
Acts 18:8
It shows that we are dying to our old way of life and rising in a new creation:
Romans 6:3-5
Galatians 3:27
1 Peter 3:21
Colossians 2:12
Water baptism is a place for you to testify that you have chosen to follow
Christ. Have your D12 group come and watch as your D12 leader or one of the
Pastoral Staff baptizes you.
