History

South Coast Fellowship is an interdenominational church that has a heart to see people receive Christ as their Lord and Savior. Our vision statement is Win - Disciple - Send and for each person to emerge as a person of influence. We want everyone to be a part of the Family of God and to be discipled in the ways of the Lord. We are not people who are “tossed around by every wind of doctrine, but are rooted and grounded in the Word of God.” We want to resemble the trees in Psalm 92 that are “flourishing in the house of the Lord.” We are committed to see everyone released into the place of significance that the Lord has prepared for them to occupy. Just as God had a place prepared for each tribe of Israel more than 2000 years ago, He also has a place of influence for each of us today.

Humble Beginnings

We started as a home bible study in 1978 and incorporated as World Reaching Faith in 1979. At that time, we had just a few adults with zeal and vision but no place to call our own. Pastor John Huffman and Pastor Larry Reichardt were co-pastors. From 1979 to 1992 the church continued to grow and move to different locations around the city until we moved into our present home at 4050 Market St., Ventura, California. Pastor Jack Hayford dedicated our facility in 1994. Pastor John Huffman served as the Senior Pastor until 2003 and led the congregation into a place of impact in the city and county. We were recognized as a Charismatic Church that cared for the people of the community. People were saved, healed, and filled with the Holy Spirit and God was glorified. Pastor John was recognized as one of the spiritual leaders in our area and was instrumental in bringing the Body of Christ together.

A New Vision

In 2003, Pastor Larry Reichardt became the
senior pastor and he initiated the present
vision of the church. We are committed to
equip people to be able to do the work of
the ministry. We are also aware that the
majority of ministry needs take place outside
the walls of the church building. We are going
to those in need who are not coming to us.
This keeps our focus on others and not on ourselves. A local outreach we’ve created is CityKidz. More on CityKidz…

Other outreaches include Open Hands Ministry .

Discipling 12 Groups

When people are disciples in the Word of God, this kind of outreach is possible. We know the Word is full of power. We are committed to consistently and earnestly read, speak, meditate and act on the God’s Word.

We encourage everyone in the congregation to be a part of our discipleship process which we call Discipling 12 or D12. More on D12’s…

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations… (Matthew 28:19)

The Lord has been very gracious to us over the years, but we know that the latter is going to be greater than the former. God continues to add people of great talent and calling to help us go into our homes, our community, our county, our country, and to all the nations. From the very beginning, we have had a heart for Ventura County and the world. There are many from South Coast Fellowship who are in the mission field and others that we support with our finances and prayers in Europe, South America, Africa, the Middle East, India, China, and the South Pacific. From the early days of our church, we have generously given our finances where they would be the most effective and helpful in the world, and we desire to continue to increase our giving as the Lord increases us.
