The Uhler family has worked with Christian
Associates International (www.christianassociates.org)
in Europe for the
past sixteen years. The mission of CAI is to help fulfill
the Great Commission of Making disciples of all people
by multiplying "high-impact"churches in Europe. To accomplish
this mission, CAI is planting high-impact churches in the
cities of Western Europe that reaches out to the emerging
culture of postmodern, transnational, multilingual,
spiritually seeking Europeans.
While Marty and Carey have been in
Europe they have planted three churches:
Amsterdam, Holland (http://www.xrds.nl);
Barcelona, Spain(http://www.icbspain.org);
Lisbon, Portugal(http://riversideinchurch.org).
Europe Wide
Marty and Carey serve on the Europe Team for
Christian Associates, Marty is a "connector"
for churches in Madrid, Spain, and Florence, Italy
and he is a "facilitator" in the area of Worship
resources and worship leading for CAI Europe wide.
In Portugal
They are now initiating a new "Christ Community"
with their colleagues the Borden's and other emerging
international leaders. Marty writes, "For now it is
called the Lisboa Matrix. Our vision is to initiate a
movement of relationships and communities that have unity
in diversity. Our unity is the common bond of seeking to
know Christ, to make him Lord of our lives and to make him
known in our world. Our diversity is expressed in our unique
giftedness and passions. We are surfers, skaters, hippies,
punks, musicians, bikers, artists, and youth workers.
Many of these 'tribes' have largely existed outside the church.
We want to bring 'church' to these people."
Pray
1. We have started a "simple church" with some new believers
and seekers. Please pray that these people will grow deeper
in relationship to Christ as we reflect on the book of Ephesians
for the next couple of months. Pray also that the gathering
will grow numerically. We want to share our faith and our
"God experience" with everyone we meet!
2. Pray for our kids. Dane (15 yrs.) had an awesome experience at
camp this Summer. He and his band buddies want to take on the
world for the Kingdom! Pray for Dane's brain to process math
more quickly. It takes him hours to get his work done. Christian
(12 yrs) is doing great in school, but really needs to discover
his own passion for God. Carly (17 yrs) really needs your prayers
she is searching for faith right now. Pray for protection. We are
experiencing spiritual warfare against our kids like we've never
experienced before!
