I am sure a lot of you reading this have read I Timothy 1:7 that tells us that the Lord has not given us a spirit of fear but that He has given us power, love and a sound mind. Since we are an honest group, I am sure we would all have to admit that we have all suffered under the torment of fear of coming events or pending circumstances that we were facing. One of the devils greatest tactics is to present evidence that could cause us to doubt the character of God. Remember when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and then we find them hiding from God in fear. Where did that fear come from? The Lord had always loved them with an unconditional love but the broken relationship had allowed the enemy to replace love with fear. The Devil is always trying to get us to doubt God’s character and convince us that His word is not true. I need to constantly remind myself that my future is in God who is faithful and He loves me unconditionally right where I am. When I look at the cross, I am reminded that my Heavenly Father has given me the best gift possible which was the death of His Son. Isaiah 53:5 tells me that what was necessary for my peace was purchase by Jesus. I need to leave my fear at the front of the cross and pick up the peace that Jesus paid for at His crucifixion. When fear rises up, I need to answer it with a promise from the word and then remember what Christ did on the cross because that will remind me that the Lord always keeps His word. When fear knocks on the door of my heart, faith will answer and bring me victory. (I John 5:4, 5)
