David & Lydia Martinez
When David & Lydia Martinez were given a vision from God, showing them that His heart’s desire was for them to provide for abandoned and unwanted children, they sold everything they owned and moved to Honduras to follow the Lord’s calling on their lives. In Honduras they founded Children’s Home Emmanuel, for the Lord and Savior to be exalted and for His children’s care.
In December 1989 and still without electricity and running water, Emmanuel opened its doors for the first 5 children. Since then Emmanuel has not stopped growing, the need for a refuge for children continues to grow and so does Emmanuel.
By the grace of God and His ability to touch the hearts of many people throughout the United States and Europe, Emmanuel houses and cares for hundreds of unwanted, abandoned, and abused children of all ages. Through God’s love and compassion for these children a loving home and refuge has been provided for them.
The beautiful setting of the orphanage includes mountains, fresh air, and plentiful space in which the children grow both physically and spiritually. It is located about 70 miles northeast of the capital city of Tegucigalpa.
The Lord has been faithful to provide for it’s needs. Facilities include the church, homes for the children, staff, and volunteers, dining halls, a laundry facility, warehouse, bakery, gymnasium, medical and dental clinic.
Emmanuel is Christian and the vision is to evangelize and disciple all the children so that they may grow up to be living lights and good examples in the ways of God to their countrymen.
